Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Batonly collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've written it in plain language so it's actually readable. If anything is unclear, please contact us.
1. What we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to run the service:
- Account information. Your email address and a hashed password, collected when you create an account. We use Supabase to handle authentication securely.
- Content you upload. Screenshots, images, and any context notes you provide when creating a guide. This content is processed to generate documentation for you.
- Generated guides. The step-by-step documentation Batonly creates is stored so you can access, edit, and share it later.
- Basic usage data. Anonymous information about how you use the service — such as pages visited and features used — to help us understand what is working and what to improve.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account
- To generate step-by-step guides from the screenshots and context you provide
- To store and display your guides when you log in
- To send essential account emails, such as email confirmation and password resets
- To improve and maintain the service
We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
3. AI processing
When you upload screenshots and add context, that content is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate documentation. This means your uploaded content is processed by Anthropic's systems as part of the service.
We recommend you do not upload screenshots containing sensitive personal information, credentials, confidential financial data, or anything you would not be comfortable sharing with a third-party AI service.
You can review Anthropic's privacy practices at anthropic.com/privacy.
4. Data storage
Your account data and generated guides are stored in Supabase, a managed database platform that uses industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.
Uploaded screenshots may be stored temporarily during processing and may be retained to support guide editing. We do not retain your screenshots longer than necessary to provide the service.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate Batonly:
- Supabase — user authentication and database storage
- Anthropic (Claude API) — AI processing for guide generation
- Vercel — application hosting and deployment
Each provider has its own privacy practices that apply to data they handle.
6. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. These are strictly necessary for the service to work. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand broad usage patterns. This does not involve tracking individual users across the web.
7. Data security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and limiting access to personal data.
No system is completely secure. If you have concerns about the security of your account, please contact us promptly.
8. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Delete your account and associated data by contacting us
- Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
To make a request, email us at security@batonly.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice in the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
10. Contact
